Office Live Add-in errors occur in Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007

You may see an error message when you try to use the Microsoft Office Live Add-in with one of these Microsoft Office applications:

• Excel 2003
• Excel 2007
• PowerPoint 2003
• PowerPoint 2007
• Word 2003
• Word 2007

If you are running version 1.3 of the Microsoft Office Live Add-in, you see this error message:


If you are running version 1.4 or 1.5 of the Microsoft Office Live Add-in, you see this error message:

Microsoft Office Live was discontinued. It will no longer work with the Microsoft Office applications that are listed in this article.

Let me fix it myself

To resolve this issue, uninstall all versions of the Office Live Add-in. To do this, follow the steps in the procedure that applies to your operating system:

For Windows 7

1. Click Start.
2. Type Programs and Features (or appwiz.cpl) in the Search programs and files box, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
3. Select Microsoft Office Live Add-in (version 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5).
4. Click Uninstall.
5. Click Yes to confirm the uninstall of the add-in.

For Windows Vista

1. Click Start.
2. Type Programs and Features (or appwiz.cpl) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
3. Select Microsoft Office Live Add-in (version 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5).
4. Click Uninstall/Change.
5. Click Yes to confirm the uninstall of the add-in.

For Windows XP

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type control appwiz.cpl in the Open box, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
3. Select Microsoft Office Live Add-in (version 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5).
4. Click Remove.
5. Click Yes to confirm the uninstall of the add-in.
