The background shorthand property does not return an empty string when you view a webpage in Internet Explorer 9

You have a webpage in which you have specified the background-image, background-position, background-attachment, and background-repeat sub-properties. In this case, when you use Windows Internet Explorer 9 to browse the webpage, you notice that the value of the background shorthand property (style.background) reflects these four sub-properties instead of returning an empty string.�

Notes

• This issue occurs in Quirks mode, in Strict mode, and in Internet Explorer 8 document mode.
• The returned background shorthand property value is valid. This issue only affects code that depends on the presence of a non-empty style.background value to detect whether all background sub-properties are set.

This issue occurs when all background sub-properties are set except the background-color sub-property.
