FrontPage Server Extensions Image Maps Are Incorrect with the Include Page Component

Symptoms

When an Include page contains image maps with the same name, the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions do not ensure the uniqueness of these image map names. This causes hotspots to be incorrect.

Cause

For HTML preservation reasons, FrontPage 2000 changed the way image maps are handled. Generic image maps are now created rather than wrapped within an image map bot. As such, Microsoft changed the naming scheme for these client-generated image maps.

Resolution
