Symptoms

You apply Update Rollup 1 or Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on the passive node of a single copy cluster (SCC). In this scenario, the Microsoft.Exchange.Search.ExSearch.exe (Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer) process consumes 100% of CPU resources and many UDP ports. During this time, the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service service and Cluster Service service cannot start, and you receive the following error message:

Note This issue only occurs when the Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer service is started before the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service service and Cluster Service service are started.
