"554 5.6.0" NDR message when you send an email message to an Exchange Server 2007 mailbox from a Macintosh computer

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You send an email message that contains a PDF attachment to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 mailbox from a Macintosh computer. In this scenario, the email message is not delivered. Additionally, you receive a non-delivery report (NDR) message which contains the following information:

Cause

This issue occurs because the length of the last entry in the application/applefile data part of the email message is zero. Therefore, making it invalid in Exchange Server 2007. However, it should be valid according to request for comment (RFC) 1740.

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
