The "Leave message intact" method in a Folder Assistant rule does not work when you post an item by using OWA in an Exchange Server 2007 environment

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 environment, you have a Client Access server and a Mailbox server installed on different computers.
  • There is a public folder store installed on the Mailbox server.
  • You have a mail-enabled public folder on the public folder store.
  • You create a rule by using Folder Assistant in Microsoft Office Outlook. This rule forwards posted items from this public folder to another mail-enabled public folder.
  • The rule has the "Leave message intact" method selected.
  • You post an item to the public folder by using Outlook Web Access (OWA). The item is forwarded to the second public folder.
In this scenario, the forwarded item on the second public folder shows the display name of the source public folder instead of the display name of the sender.

NoteThis issue does not occur when you post the item to the public folder by using Outlook.

Cause

This issue occurs because an access tokenis used on a remote procedure call (RPC) call when the Client Access server and the Mailbox server are installed on different computers. However, the implementation code that obtains the access token cannot recognize the real token.
