Symptoms

You install Windows Internet Explorer 9 on a computer that is running Windows Vista. However, Internet Explorer 9 is replaced with Windows Internet Explorer 8 if you upgrade the computer to Windows 7.�

Cause

When you upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7, the upgrade process does not check the current version of Internet Explorer. Windows then installs Internet Explorer 8 from the Windows 7 installation source.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install Internet Explorer 9 after you upgrade to Windows 7. To download Internet Explorer 9, visit the following Microsoft website:
