Symptoms

When you upgrade the FrontPage Server Extensions for UNIX to FrontPage 2000 sites that were previously used with FrontPage 98, the following error message occurs:
The top-level folder for web <Root Web> is a symbolic link and the 'FollowSymLinks' server configuration is not set.
The Frontpage.cnf file (located at /usr/local/frontpage/version4.0/) contains the line "FollowSymLinks:1." Newly created sites located in the same top-level directory work correctly, and if you use the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions, everything works correctly.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
