To work around this problem, there are two options:
Configure the Server Extensions using the wizard in the Internet Service Manager. Although the Wizard may appear to stop responding when you move from the first screen of the wizard, "Welcome to the Server Extensions Configuration Wizard" to the next screen, it will eventually move to the second screen, and you can finish the installation.
-OR-
Install the Server Extensions using the
Fpsrvadm.exe command line utility. The
Fpsrvadm.exe command line utility does not experience any delay when installing the Server Extensions.
To install the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions to a virtual server using the command line utility, do the following:
- Click Start, click Programs, and choose Command Prompt.
- Change the directory to c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\40\bin.
- To install the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions to a virtual server with the host name sample.microsoft.com, with an initial Administer account of Administrator, enter the following syntax:
fpsrvadm -o install -t msiis -p 80 -m sample.microsoft.com -u Administrator
- There is additional information on how to use the Fpsrvadm.exe command line utility in the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions Resource Kit (SERK). The SERK is not installed by default, but can be added by using Add/Remove in Control Panel and Selecting FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions or FrontPage 2000, depending on the installation. The SERK is also available online at the following location:
