Even if you give someone Delegate Access permissions to your Calendar, they cannot access appointments that are marked as private. When they view your Calendar, they can see that you are busy at that time, but they cannot see the appointment's properties.

To allow the person to access the appointment, use one of the following methods:
- Modify the appointment so it is not marked as private. To do so, open the appointment, and then on the Appointment tab, click to clear the Private check box.

- Configure your mailbox so that the other person is listed as an owner of the mailbox. To do so, follow these steps:
- Start the Microsoft Exchange Administrator program. To do so, click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
- In the left pane, click the Recipients object under the appropriate site. In the right pane, click your mailbox, and then on the File menu, click Properties.
- Click the Permissions tab. If the Permissions tab does not appear, follow the steps below, and then repeat steps 2-3:
- Click Cancel.
- On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Permissions tab.
- Click to select the Show Permissions page for all objects check box, verify the Display rights for roles on Permissions page check box is selected, and then click OK.
- Click Add, select the person who you want to be able to access the appointment, and then click OK.
- Under Windows NT Accounts With Permissions, click the person's account. In the Rights box, verify that the Mailbox Owner check box is selected, and then click OK.
- After this person has been added as an owner, he or she must create and use a profile for this mailbox to view the contents of the calendar. This person cannot view the private items even if he or she adds the mailbox to his or her profile by the following process:
- Click the Tools menu, click Services, click Microsoft Exchange Server, click Properties, click the Advanced tab, and then click Add.
- After you type the mailbox name, and then click OK, the mailbox appears in the Open these additional mailboxes list on the Advanced tab.

When you configure your mailbox so that someone else is listed as an owner, that person has access to the entire mailbox, not just the Calendar. If that person logs on to your mailbox and sends a message, the message does not indicate that it was sent by another person. When you give someone Delegate Access permissions to your mailbox, message recipients see your name in the Sent On Behalf Of box and the delegate's name in the From box.
