Symptoms

When you attempt to check in a file or undo a file checkout, the following error message appears:
Server error: There is no page with URL 'Page.htm' in this web.
where Page.htm is the name of the file you are attempting to check in or for which you are attempting to undo the check out.

The file is not checked in.

Also, if you attempt to recalculate hyperlinks, (click Recalculate Hyperlinks on the Tools menu), the file drops out of source control and links on the page break.

Cause

This problem can occur if a file is opened, checked out, and moved to another disk location outside of the FrontPage interface (for example, by using Windows Explorer).

FrontPage stores source control information for all files in the meta information file in the _vti_cnf folder. (There is one _vti_cnf folder inside each folder that contains files in a FrontPage Web.) If you move a file outside of the FrontPage interface and then recalculate hyperlinks, the original file in the _vti_cnf folder is removed and a new one is created. The new meta information file does not contain the source control information for the file. Therefore, the file is dropped from source control.

Resolution

Manage the files through FrontPage.

To restore source control for a file, remove the entire Web from source control and then add it back to source control. Manually correct any broken links.
