Symptoms

When you print or preview a chart using print preview, text contained in a text box on your chart may be truncated even though it appears correctly on the worksheet.

Cause

This problem occurs because the text box doesn't automatically resize itself to display all the text in it. Note that this problem does not occur if you print or preview a chart on a chart sheet.

NOTE: This may particularly occur if you make changes to the size of the text box before attempting to print, or if you use the steps in the "Resolution" section of this article, and then change back to the default setting (Do not size with chart).

Resolution

To have all of the text within the text box appear when you print or preview the chart on a worksheet, perform the following steps for each text box in the chart:
  1. Select the text box by clicking its border.

If the blinking cursor appears in the text box, press ESC once.
  2. On the Format menu, click Selected Object. Click the Properties tab.
  3. Click Size with chart and click OK.
