Symptoms

Cause

This behavior occurs if your hard disk has less than 2 megabytes (MB) of free disk space available when you try to choose a different Office Assistant.

Resolution

To prevent this behavior from occurring, keep at least 10 MB of free disk space on your hard disk, if possible.

NOTE: When you run Microsoft Office 2000 programs with less than 10 MB of free disk space, you may encounter other types of problems in addition to this one.

More information

To choose a different Office Assistant, follow these steps:
1.Right-click the Office Assistant, and then click Choose Assistant on the shortcut menu.
2.Click the Gallery tab.
3.Using the Back and Next buttons, scroll through the list of assistants until you see the one that you want to use, and then click OK.
When you click OK, the Office Assistant actor (.act) file is copied from your Microsoft Office 2000 compact disc or your network server to your hard disk. Actor files can be quite large, up to 2 MB or more in size. If there is not enough room on your hard disk to contain the new actor file, the file is not copied, and you do not receive any error messages.
