XADM: Content Conversion Errors with Large Recipient Lists

Symptoms

When you attempt to send a message to a large private distribution list, event logs indicate content conversion errors (Event ID 210) and you may receive a non-delivery report (NDR).

Cause

The Windows NT OLE wrappers used for content conversion inside the message transfer agent (MTA) are not scalable enough for the large number of recipients.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
