The Internet Explorer disk cache is a storage folder for temporary Internet files that are written to your hard disk when you are viewing pages on the Internet.

To change the size of the cache folder, follow these steps:

Internet Explorer 5

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings.
  4. Change the "Amount of disk space to use" setting by dragging the slider.
  5. Click OK, and then Click OK again.

Internet Explorer 4.0, 4.01

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the View menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings.
  4. Change the "Amount of disk space to use" setting by dragging the slider.
  5. Click OK, and then Click OK again.

Internet Explorer 3.x

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the View menu, click Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings.
  5. Change the setting by dragging the slider.
  6. Click OK, and then click OK again.
NOTE: A setting of 0 percent is not supported in Internet Explorer for Windows 95. The lowest allowed setting is 1 percent.
