Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 environment:
  • A distribution group (DL) and a mail contact share the same display name.
  • The alias of the mail contact is the same as the common display name.
  • You set an inbox rule for the DL in your mailbox by selecting the where my name is in the To or Cc box option.
In this scenario, the DL is always considered as the mail contact when an inbox rule redirects or forwards an arrived email.
