Symptoms

When you try to upgrade a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 server by using a setup file in your environment, the setup of the prerequisite check fails. In this situation, the ServerWideOffline component is set to Inactive.

Cause

This issue occurs because the state of the server becomes inactive after the setup fails, and it cannot be restored automatically.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
2961810 Cumulative Update 6 for Exchange Server 2013
