JAWS screen reader does not read your current status in Lync 2010

Symptoms

Assume that the Job Access with Speech (JAWS) screen reader is installed on a computer, and you sign in to Microsoft Lync 2010. When you press the TAB key several times to select the status list in Lync 2010, the JAWS screen reader does not read your current status.
