Cumulative update package 4 for BizTalk Server 2010

INTRODUCTION

This cumulative update package for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010 contains hotfixes for the BizTalk Server 2010 issues that were resolved after the release of BizTalk Server 2010.

We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment. Because the builds are cumulative, each new update release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included in the previous BizTalk Server 2010 update release. We recommend that you consider applying the most recent BizTalk Server 2010 update release.

Important note about the cumulative update package

  • One cumulative hotfix package includes all the component packages. However, a cumulative update package updates only those components that are installed on the system.

The following cumulative update package is a rollup update that contains the following items:
  • All previously released hotfixes for BizTalk Server 2010
  • Some hotfixes for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009 and for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2
  • Some other fixes that improve the product

After you apply one of the following cumulative update packages for BizTalk Server 2010, the BizTalk Server 2010-related SQL Server agent jobs are reset:
  • Cumulative update package 1 for BizTalk Server 2010
  • Cumulative update package 2 for BizTalk Server 2010
  • Cumulative update package 3 for BizTalk Server 2010
When this issue occurs, the DTA Purge and Archive (BizTalkDTADb) agent job is disabled. Additionally, the configuration of the agent job is lost.

How to obtain cumulative update package 4 for BizTalk Server 2010

A supported cumulative update package is now available from Microsoft. However, the cumulative update package is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply the cumulative update package only to systems that are experiencing these specific problems. This cumulative update package may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by any of these problems, we recommend that you wait for the next BizTalk Server 2010 service pack. The next service pack will contain the hotfixes that are in this cumulative update package.

If the cumulative update is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the cumulative update package.

Cumulative update package information

Prerequisites

To apply this cumulative update package, you must have BizTalk Server 2010 installed.

Note To apply the corresponding hotfixes for the following components, you must have the component installed:
  • Microsoft UDDI Services 3.0, which is included on the BizTalk Server 2010 installation disk
  • Microsoft BizTalk Adapters for Enterprise Applications (also known as BizTalk LOB Adapters)

If a Readme.txt file is included in this cumulative update package, see the Readme.txt file for more information about how to install this update.

Important The cumulative update package is a unified package that contains x86 and x64 files. To install the update correctly, run the Setup.exe file.

Note An improved hotfix installer is used in the cumulative update package. When you install the cumulative update package, a list of the installed features that are updated is displayed, and the number of fixes for each feature is displayed.

Restart requirement

You may have to restart the computer after you apply this cumulative update package.

File information

The English version of this cumulative update package has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
