Consider the following scenario in a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2009 environment:
  • You use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 or Microsoft BizTalk Adapter for DB2 to connect to IBM DB2 for z/OS Version 7.
  • You apply the update that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
2538036 FIX: Incorrect data may be inserted into DB2 graphic data types when you use Host Integration Server 2009 data providers
In this scenario, queries that are submitted to DB2 for z/OS Version 7 fail, and you receive the following error message:
SQLSTATE: HY000, SQLCODE: -344
Additionally, if you use BizTalk Adapter for DB2, an event that resembles the following may be logged when this problem occurs:
Note This problem may also occur if you run IBM DB2 for z/OS Version 8 in compatibility mode.

Cause

This problem occurs because update 2538036 includes a change that adds support for the Distributed Data Management (DDM) Command Source Identifier (CMDSRCID) code point. The CMDSRCID code point is not supported in IBM DB2 for z/OS Version 7. Therefore, DB2 rejecting any commands that include this code point.

Note IBM has added support for the CMDSRCID code point in IBM DB2 for z/OS Version 8.
