When you migrate a Windows Server 2003-based failover cluster to a Windows Server 2008 R2-based failover cluster, only some file share resources that were in the pre-migration report of eligible resources for migration are migrated to the Windows Server 2008 R2-based failover cluster.
After a migration process, the final migration report indicates that all resources that were eligible for migration were successfully migrated.
However, only some file share resources that were reported as migrated successfully are present if you check the Failover Cluster Management Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in of Windows Server 2008 R2, or if you check the cluster registry hive under HKEY_Local_Machine\Cluster.
Note If you migrate from a Windows Server 2008-based failover cluster to a Windows Server 2008 R2-based failover clusters, or if you install the Failover Cluster feature on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2, the pre-migration and final migration reports reflect the correct status of the migrated resources. Additionally, the resources that are in the final migration report are present in the Failover Cluster Management MMC snap-in and in the cluster registry hive.
