FIX: The Performance Monitor counters for the Host Integration Server 2009 Session Integration feature are disabled by default unexpectedly

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have Microsoft Host Integration Server (HIS Server) 2009 installed in a computer that is running any of the following operating systems: 
    • Windows Server 2003 x64
    • Windows Server 2008 x64
    • Windows Server 2008 R2
    • Windows Vista x64
    • Windows 7 x64

  • You enable the performance monitor counters for the Session Integrator feature.

    Note By default, the performance monitor counters are disabled for the Session Integrator feature.
When the performance monitor tries to add counters for monitoring in this scenario, the performance monitor displays no counters in the Add Counters window unexpectedly.

Cause

This problem occurs bacause the performance monitor counters of the session integrator are not aligned suitably on 8-byte boundaries.

More Information

After you apply the hotfix, the Session Integrator counters can be enabled and used on x64 systems. To enable the Session Integrator counters for use, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK.
  2. Locate the following registry entry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/siserver/Performance


  3. Double-click the Disable Performance Counters registry key and change the value to 0 to enable the performance monitor counters. The default value is set to 1 when the Host Integration Server 2009 Session Integrator feature is installed and configured.



    Note The Disable Performance Counters parameter can also be deleted to enable the counters.

  4. Close Registry Editor.
