The Save As dialog box does not automatically point to the Templates folder as the default save location for a template file in Word 2007 and in Word 2010

Symptoms

When you save a document as a template file (.dotx or .dotm) in Microsoft Office Word 2007 or in Microsoft Word 2010, the Save As dialog box does not automatically point to the Templates folder as the default save location.

Cause

This behavior is by design. Files that are saved to the Templates folder are "trusted" by Word. Therefore, Word requires you to verify that this is a trusted file.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must verify that the file that you want to save to the Templates folder is one that you trust. After you verify this, you can change the save location in the Save As dialog box to the Templates folder.

By default, the Templates folder occupies the following location on your computer:
C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
