InfoPath.exe stops working when you press an arrow key on a computer that has Internet Explorer 8 installed

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that has Windows Internet Explorer 8 installed.
  • You design an InfoPath Form Template (.xsn) file in Microsoft InfoPath Designer 2010 or in Design Mode of Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007.
  • You press an arrow key to move the pointer from one header column in a repeating table to another element.
In this scenario, InfoPath.exe stops responding. Additionally, you receive one of the following two error messages:
  • In Microsoft InfoPath Designer 2010:
    Microsoft InfoPath has stopped working
  • In Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007:
    Microsoft Office InfoPath has stopped working
