View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You open the Group Policy Management Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in on a computer that is running the German version of Windows Server 2008 R2 or of Windows 7.
  • You click the Group Policy Objects item for a domain.
  • You select a Group Policy object (GPO), and then you click the Settings tab in the right panel.
  • You right-click the right panel, and then you click Save Report to save the report that is under the Settings tab.
  • You save the report as an HTML file.
In this scenario, this HTML file does not open when you try to open it, and an error message is shown. This error message states that the XML page cannot be displayed.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Group Policy Management MMC snap-in incorrectly adds an extra </u> HTML tag when the Group Policy Management MMC snap-in generates the GPO report as an HTML file.
