You experience a decrease in performance when you use an evaluation runtime that is created by using Windows Embedded Standard 2009

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

You experience a decrease in performance when you use an evaluation runtime that is created by using one of the following editions of Windows Embedded Standard 2009:
  • Windows Embedded Standard 2009 Evaluation Edition
  • Windows Embedded Standard 2009 Academic Edition
  • Windows Embedded Standard 2009 Retail Edition

Note Runtimes that are created by using Windows Embedded Standard 2009 Retail Edition are built without a Retail Product Identification (PID). Therefore, the runtime functions as an evaluation runtime.
For example, you may see CPU usage increases of 50% to 100% when you experience this issue. This performance decrease is most noticeable when the runtime is running on a minimal hardware configuration.
