Cause

This issue occurs because the Windows Manager and the Windows Graphics Device Interface (GDI) operate on the same device context (DC) in different threads. They do not synchronize their access to a display device correctly. This behavior may cause a race condition in the Multiuser Win32 driver (Win32k.sys). When this race condition occurs, the Windows GDI accesses a display object that has been deleted by the Windows Manager. Therefore, you receive the Stop error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
