Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running a Microsoft Access 2010 database.

  • You publish the database to a SharePoint site.

Cause

This problem occurs because SharePoint does not support the screen-tip part of hyperlink fields.

Note SharePoint supports only hyperlink addresses and text descriptions for hyperlink fields. Each part can be up to 255 characters long.

Workaround

A hyperlink field can have up to four parts that are separated by the number sign (#) as follows:
displaytext#address#subaddress#screen-tip
The following example includes the display text, the address, and the screen-tip parts:

Microsoft Corporation#http://example.microsoft.com/#Example page for Microsoft Corporation
Note In this example, the subaddress part is omitted.

To work around this problem, put the text that you want to display in the screen-tip part to the display text part.
