Internet Explorer 8 may crash intermittently if you enable the SmartScreen Filter after you install security update 976325

You install security update 976325� (MS09-072) on a computer that has Windows Internet Explorer 8 installed. When you enable the SmartScreen Filter, Internet Explorer 8 may crash intermittently.

When this problem occurs, the following event is logged in the Application log. This error indicates that the crash occurs in the mshtml.dll model.

To work around this problem, turn off the SmartScreen Filter. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Internet Explorer 8.
2. Click the Safety button, point to SmartScreen Filter, and then click Turn Off SmartScreen Filter.
3. In the Microsoft SmartScreen Filter dialog box, click OK.
