Issue that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you open a Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 form that contains digitally-signed data, Office InfoPath 2007 reports that the digital signatures are invalid. This problem occurs when the digital certificate that was used to sign the data is expired or is revoked but the digitally-signed data is not altered.

    Note To resolve this issue, apply this hotfix, and then apply the hotfix package that is provided in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

Notes
  • After you apply the hotfix, Office InfoPath 2007 reports the digital signatures as valid if the expiry and revocation dates occur after the date on which the signatures were applied.
  • Office InfoPath 2007 uses the system date and time that is provided by the signer�s local computer to determine the date and time at which the digital signatures were applied.

Prerequisites

Registry information

To apply the hotfix in this package, you must enable one of the following registry entries:
  • Enable the AllowUntrustedCertExpirationCheck registry entry for the expired digital certificate.
  • Enable the AllowUntrustedCertRevocationCheck registry entry for the revoked digital certificate.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Windows Vista, Click Start
    , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

    In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\InfoPath\Security
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type AllowUntrustedCertExpirationCheck or AllowUntrustedCertRevocationCheck, and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click AllowUntrustedCertExpirationCheck or AllowUntrustedCertRevocationCheck, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
