Symptoms

When you submit a HTTP POST programmatically to Exchange Server 2010 Web Services (EWS) or to AutoDiscover, you receive the following error message:

Cause

By default, EWS and AutoDiscover only accept POSTs that are made through SSL. This is because EWS and AutoDiscover are based on Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). WCF cannot find the endpoint of the HTTP POST. Therefore, the HTTP 404 error is generated.
