The selected item moves out of view in a drop-down list in Excel Web Access on a computer that has Internet Explorer 8 installed

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that has Windows Internet Explorer 8 and Microsoft Office Excel installed.
  • You use Excel Web Access to open and edit an Excel Workbook. The Formula AutoComplete feature is enabled.
  • You type = (equal sign) together with a letter in a cell. The Formula AutoComplete feature automatically displays a drop-down list. This list contains formulas that begin with the letter that you typed.
  • You try to use the PAGE DOWN key, the PAGE UP key, or the arrow keys to select (highlight) an item in the drop-down list that is beyond the viewport.
In this scenario, the viewport does not scroll and the selected item moves out of view.
