Error message when you try to use the printbrm command to migrate the printer server from a Windows Server 2003-based computer to a Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer: "0x800700a1"

Symptoms

You want to migrate a printer server from a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 to a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2. To do this, you use the printbrm command in the following command lines:
CD %WINDIR%\System32\Spool\Tools Printbrm -s \\<sourcecomputername> -b -f <filename>.printerExport
Printbrm -s \\<destinationcomputername> -r -f <filename>.printerExport
However, the export operation fails, and you receive the following error message:
0x800700a1. The specified path is invalid.

Cause

This problem occurs when there is a monitor entry referenced by a printer driver that does not have a corresponding registry value and a corresponding file value.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, reinstall the printer driver.

Note If a monitor entry exists in the printer driver, and if the monitor value does not exist in the registry under the monitors entry, reinstalling the printer driver will restore the Language Monitor data.
