The computer may not shutdown or restart after you install HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver Version 1.9.0.0 or 1.11.0.0

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008.
  • You install HP ProLiant iLO 2 Firmware Version 1.70 or an earlier version.
  • You install HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver Version 1.9.0.0 or HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver Version 1.11.0.0.
In this scenario, the computer may not shut down or restart. The shutdown request or the restart request may stop at the final few stages of the shutdown process even though there are some responsive system components such as the mouse.

Note HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver Version 1.9.0.0 was released in ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) Version 8.20.

Resolution

To make sure that the server correctly finishes a shutdown or a restart, upgrade to HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver Version 1.11.2.0 or a later version.
