"0x80004005" or "0x80040102" error message when you access a mailbox on an Exchange Server 2010 server by using a MAPI client

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a mail server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.
  • The mailbox databases are located on the Exchange 2010 server.
  • You access your mailbox by using a MAPI client from a computer that has Office Outlook 2007 installed.
  • The application calls either the IExchangeManageStore::GetMailboxTable method, or calls the IExchangeManageStore::GetPublicFolderTable method.
In this scenario, the MAPI client fails to access the mailbox. Additionally, you receive one of the following error messages:
0x80004005 (MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED)
0x80040102 (MAPI_E_NO_SUPPORT)

Workaround

To work around this issue, run the MAPI client from a computer that does not have Office Outlook 2007 installed. To install the latest Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client package on that computer, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
