Consider the following scenario:

This issue occurs for both 32-bit applications and 64-bit applications.
- You have a computer that is running an x64-based edition of Windows 7 or of Windows Server 2008 R2.
- This computer has an application that specifies Windows 7 in the "Compatibility" section (<compatibility> element) of the application manifest file.
Note For more information about the application manifest file, see the "More information" section. - You start the application from a 32-bit process. For example, in a file download dialog box in Windows Internet Explorer, you click Run instead of Save. This action starts the application.
