Stop error message when you try to put the computer into hibernation (S4) in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2: "Stop error code 0x0000000A (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)"

When you try to put a computer that is running Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 into hibernation (S4), the system may crash. Additionally, you receive a Stop error message that resembles the following: This issue may occur when you have a third-party storage miniport driver installed on the computer.

Notes

• The parameters in the Stop error message may vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.
• Not all "STOP: 0x0000000A" error messages are caused by this issue.
