December 2009 cumulative daylight saving time (DST) update for Exchange 2003 SP2

A cumulative update for daylight saving time (DST) changes that occur in several countries is available. The update applies to computers that are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

The update that is described in this article updates time zone data to account for changes in several time zones. These time zones are listed in this article. This cumulative update also addresses DST changes that were updated in previous cumulative updates. We recommend that you install the latest DST updates for your operating system.

Updated time zones

N. Central Asia Standard Time
Almaty, Kazakhstan is moved from N. Central Asia Standard Time to Central Asia Standard Time. N. Central Asia Standard Time and Central Asia Standard Time are both (GMT+06:00). Central Asia Standard Time does not use DST.

Georgian Standard Time
This time zone is been changed from (GMT+03:00) to (GMT+4:00). This time zone does not use DST.

North Asia East Standard Time
�Ulaan Batar� is removed from the display name of this time zone.

Central Brazil Standard Time
The DST start and end dates are adjusted for the central Brazil time zone.

E. South America Standard Time
The DST start and end dates are adjusted for the east South America time zone.

Israel Standard Time
The DST start and end dates are adjusted for the Israel time zone.

Egypt Standard Time
The DST start and end dates are adjusted for the Egypt time zone.

Ulaanbaatar Standard Time
The new Ulaanbaatar Time Zone without DST is introduced. The display name is (GMT+08:00) Ulaanbaatar.

Paraguay Standard Time
The DST start and end dates are adjusted for the Paraguay time zone.

Western Australia Standard Time
The DST is removed for the Western Australia time zone.

Central Asia Standard Time
The display name of this time zone is changed from (GMT+06:00) Astana, Dhaka to (GMT+06:00) Astana

Bangladesh Standard Time
The new Bangladesh time zone that does not use DST is introduced. The display name is (GMT+06:00) Dhaka.

Greenland Standard Time
The DST start and end dates are adjusted for the Greenland time zone.

Morocco Standard Time
The DST is removed for the Casablanca time zone.

Pakistan Standard Time
The DST is removed for the Islamabad, Karachi time zone

Argentina Standard Time
The DST is removed for the Buenos Aires time zone.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Exchange Server 2000 Service Pack that contains this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the Exchange Information Store service and all dependent services are automatically restarted when you apply this hotfix.
