FIX: The EDI batching orchestration does not release batches on time in BizTalk Server

Consider the following scenario:

• On a computer that is running Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 or BizTalk Server 2009, you configure batch settings on the Interchange Batch Creation Settings page of a party's EDI properties.
  
  Note For more information about how to configure the interchange batch creation settings, see the "More Information" section
• Then, BizTalk Server processes a stream of interchanges that are sent to the party.

In this scenario, the interchange batches may not be released according to the release criteria that you specified on the Interchange Batch Creation Settings page.

For example, you configure an hourly batch schedule and specify the following settings:

• February 28, 2010 at 00:10:00 AM for the First release at field
• 30 minutes for the Subsequent release every field
• February 28, 2010 as the start date for the Activation range settings.

In this example, the release time for the first batch is some time later than February 28, 2010 at 00:10:00 AM. However, when this issue occurs, subsequent batches may not experience the same issue. Therefore, subsequent batches may be released on time.

This issue occurs because of an error in the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) batching orchestration.

Important When a large batch of messages arrives in a queue, a throttling operation starts. If you have installed this hotfix, batch termination may leave unhandled messages in a suspended state that is non-resumable after the throttling operation. Therefore, these messages cannot be processed again. To avoid this issue, use one of the following methods:

• Click to select the No end date check box in the Termination section.

Prerequisites

You must have BizTalk Server 2006 R2 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must restart the BizTalk host instance after you apply this hotfix.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time.
