The SUSE Linux Enterprise network configurations are lost after a Hyper-V Live Migration.

Certain Linux distributions bind their network adapter configurations to the media access control (MAC) address (hardware address) assigned to an interface. If the MAC address is changed, the network configurations defined for that interface are not applied.
If the guest system in Hyper-V is configured for dynamic MAC address assignment, a different address may be assigned to the interface when the node is moved in a Live Migration. This behavior causes the network configurations to be lost.

To resolve this issue, configure static MAC address assignment for Linux-based virtual machines in Hyper-V Manager.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2 is known to use the configuration binding that causes this issue. Other Linux distributions may also use this binding mechanism and encounter this issue.
