Symptom

When you try to start a Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008-based computer after installing a Windows Service Pack and subsequently uninstalling NetGear Storage Central or Zetera Z-SAN software, you receive the following stop error message:

STOP: 0x0000007B ( parameter1 , parameter2 , parameter3 , parameter4 )
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Cause

This problem may occur under the following conditions: You have the NetGear Storage Central software, including the Zetera Z-SANdrivers,installed on a computer running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.You perform either an in-place-upgrade of your existing Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 operating system, or install a Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 Service Pack. You uninstall the NetGear Storage Central software or the Zetera Z-SANdrivers.You restart Windows.

Under these conditions, the registry entries to load the Zetera ZetSFD.sys filter driver may be migrated from the Disk Class registry subkey to the registry subkeys for specific Disk Class devices by theWindows Vista or Windows Server 2008 setup program. When the Zetera software is subsequently uninstalled, the driver files themselves are deleted, but the registry entries to load the Zetera ZetSFD.sys filter driver are not removed from the registry by the Zetera setup/uninstall program. As a result, when Windows restarts, the system attempts to load these filter drivers that are no longer present on the system. If this failure to load required drivers occurs for the disk device on which Windows is installed, Windows will be unable to access the disk, and thus unable to continue starting.
