Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install a System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1(SP1) or Service Pack 2 (SP2) primary site server on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008.
  • You install the Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE) service point role on this site server.
  • You install Windows Deployment Services on the same computer.
In this scenario, the Windows Deployment Service may stop responding. Additionally, you have to manually close the service and then restart the service to restore functionality.
