Symptoms

When you try to upgrade an iSCSI-booted server from Windows 2008 to Windows 2008 R2, the upgrade fails. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
There is not enough free space on partition (C:)
This issue occurs even when partition C has sufficient free space for the upgrade.

This issue occurs because iSCSI-booted operating system upgrades are not supported.
