When you delete a meeting request in Outlook 2007 without responding to the request, there is no message that states that the corresponding calendar item is deleted

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, you receive a meeting request. Then, the corresponding calendar item for the meeting request is added to the calendar, but you do not respond to the request. If you delete the meeting request without responding, the corresponding calendar item is deleted, as you expect. However, in this scenario, you do not receive a message that states that the corresponding calendar item is deleted.

To resolve this problem, install the hotfix that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article:

After you install the hotfix package that is described in KB article 974489, and you experience the scenario that is described in the "Symptoms" section, an event log entry that resembles the following is logged in the Application event log:Notes

• By default, the subject, the start time, and the end time of the meeting invitation are logged in the event log. The event log also lists the computer name together with the name of the user who deleted the meeting invitation.
• You do not have to enable logging in Office Outlook 2007 to have this event displayed in the Application log.

You can configure the DisableSubjectLogging registry entry to replace the subject text in the event log with the Global Object ID value of the message. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Registry Editor.
   • In Windows Vista, click Start
     , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
     
     
     If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.
   • In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type DisableSubjectLogging, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click DisableSubjectLogging, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7. Exit Registry Editor.

Note After you configure the DisableSubjectLogging registry entry, only the subject text is replaced with the Global Object ID value in the event log. The Global Object ID will be a value similar to 040000008200E00074C5B7101A82E00800000000E1301F017331CA0100000000000000001000000011F8BC167F19794B83D30B25F704EAFE.
Other information about the meeting invitation is still logged in the event log.
