FIX: SWIFT messages that contain an invalid 19A field may not be validated as expected when you use BizTalk Accelerator for SWIFT 2008 Message Pack

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you use Microsoft BizTalk Accelerator for SWIFT (A4SWIFT) together with Microsoft BizTalk Accelerator for SWIFT 2008 Message Pack to process SWIFT messages, Business Rule Engine validation does not work as expected on the 19A field. Therefore, SWIFT messages that contain the problematic 19A field may not be validated correctly.

There are two kinds of errors in the 19A field that cannot be detected as expected:
  • The amount subfield of the 19A field exceeds the maximum length of 15. This length includes the mandatory decimal comma.
  • The 19A field contains multiple negative signs. These negative signs are represented by using the letter "N".
For example, the following two invalid 19A fields will still pass Business Rule Engine validation:

Example 1

:19A::ACRU//EUR1234567890123,45
The amount subfield has a length of 16 characters.

Example 2

:19A::ACRU//NNNEUR123456123,4
The 19A field contains three negative signs.

The amount subfield of the 19A field should not exceed the maximum length of 15, and the 19A field can have one or no negative signs. The following two examples are valid 19A fields:
:19A::ACRU//EUR1234567890123,4
:19A::ACRU//NEUR1234567890123,4
