Error message on a computer that is running Windows Vista or on Windows Server 2008 that has the IPMI driver installed: "Stop 0x00000019"

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

On a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, some applications use the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) driver to communicate with the baseboard management controller (BMC). However, you may receive a Stop error message on the computer occasionally. For example, you may receive the following Stop error message:
Stop 0x00000019 (00000020, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
BAD_POOL_HEADER
Notes
  • The parameters in these Stop error messages may vary, depending on the actual configuration.
  • The symptoms of a Stop error may vary, depending on your computer's system failure options. For example, the computer may restart when a Stop error occurs.

Cause

This problem occurs because the IPMI driver causes some pool header corruption when the driver is handling Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) requests. When this pool header corruption is detected, the system triggers a Stop error.
