Some functions do not work if you install Security Configuration Wizard on a Windows Server 2008 SP2-based Exchange Server 2007

Symptoms

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 has XML files that are used for Security Configuration Wizard (SCW). However, the XML files do not support Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2). Therefore, when you install SCW on a Windows Server 2008 SP2-based Exchange Server 2007 server, some functions do not work correctly. For example, Exchange Management Console or Exchange Server Best Practices Analyzer Tool does not work by using it remotely.

Cause

This problem occurs because the corresponding Exchange2007_WinSrv2008.xml XML file has a hardcoded restriction which only supports Windows Server 2008 RTM and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Additionally, the Server service is not included as a required service for Exchange Server 2007. Therefore, the Remote Registry service is blocked.
