You experience multiple first chance exception errors when you use the Application Verifier runtime verification tool to test a GDI+ program in Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008

On a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, you use the Application Verifier (AppVerifier) runtime verification tool to test a Microsoft GDI+ program. However, you experience multiple first chance exception errors. Additionally, the GDI+ program may close unexpectedly.

This problem also occurs with programs that are used to trace exceptions in other applications, such as AppSight.

This problem occurs because there is an error in the Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) codec that results in an access violation.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
