You encounter slow performance when you render .jpg files on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows Server 2008 or of Windows Vista

You notice slow performance when you render a .jpg file on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows Server 2008 or of Windows Vista. Additionally, the performance is slower than when you render the same .jpg file on a computer that is running an x86-based version of Windows Server 2008 or of Windows Vista.

This problem occurs because the image scaling process in Windows Server 2008 and in Windows Vista is not well optimized for the 64-bit processor architectures.

To resolve the issue, install hot fix 970987 on the affected computers that are running the x64-based versions of Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problemP1 that P2 described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problemP1 described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table.
