FIX: The ISA Server Firewall service crashes when a third-party Web filter calls the WriteClient function

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • In Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006, you enable compression in the Web proxy.
  • You install a third-party Web filter that collects data and uses the WriteClient callback function to send the collected data.
In this scenario, the ISA Server Firewall service crashes when the third-party filter calls the WriteClient function.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a race condition between the built-in compression filter and the third-party filter in which both filters collect data and then send that data to the client at the same time.
